Event Electrics
Welcome to Event Electrics, my name is Greg and I am the director here at Event Electrics.
If like us, you work with and love Victoria's festivals and events then you probably ask yourself this question after each event: "How can we improve?".
Would you be surprised to hear that most, nearly all, the events I have attended have a low standard of electrical safety, are non-compliant with standards, and expose the public to risk.
The question I have asked myself is “How can we improve electrical safety at events in Victoria?”.
Event Electrical Safety Reviews
We have reviewed more than 100 events in the last few years. What we consistently find is that while the events are fantastic the electrical setups are non-compliant and unsafe!
Is your event listed?
3 Questions to find out if your electrical setup is unsafe.
Think about your event and then ask these questions:
Are all leads off the ground?
Are all outlet boxes/powerboards securely mounted?
Are all generators and distribution boards protected by barriers?
If the answer to any of these is “No” then there is something to improve. If the answer to all is “No”, then we have a problem.

We Can Help Make Your Event:
Reliable, Safe, And Compliant
In our experience, we find that event organisers want to produce electrically safe events but don’t know how. To help improve electrical best practice we have produced a ‘Best Practice for a Safe Event’ document to help guide event organisers. A one pager with 9 guidelines that can improve safety at any event.
We also host a facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/Event.Electrics.Best.Practice/ and encourage anyone interested in electrical best practice at events to join up and ask questions.
We believe events should be strict in maintaining a high level of electrical safety!
We also know that there are simple fixes that can be implemented immediately!
The best way for us to improve electrical is to fill out the form below and tell us about any challenges you face with electrical safety at your event. We will send you the ‘Best Practice for a Safe Event’ PDF and follow up with a phone call to discuss your event and discover how we might help.
Why are we into electrical safety at events in such a big way?
It all began 25 years ago with the Meredith Music Festival. The electrical setup has improved each and every year and can be characterised as reliable, safe, and compliant. We noticed about 5 years ago that it is almost unique in Victoria for these reasons.
We are passionate about events and are proud to have worked on the Meredith Music Festival, Golden Plains Music Festival, Foxtel Live Site (Crown Riverside), Chinese New Year (Crown Riverside), Melbourne Food & Wine Festival (Crown Riverside), and the Sony Foundation Dinner.
Here's How
Our company is focused on promoting electrical best practice and facilitating safe events.
We regularly work with the State Regulator in order to promote better practices for temporary supply of power at public events.
We provide assistance to local government, community groups, and organisations who run events by meeting with them, reviewing their setup, hosting forums, and making information available to them. Our mission is for events to improve safety, reduce risk, and comply with electrical standards.
An introduction to our Best Practice Guidelines can be found here.
We post photos of our truck on Facebook, which can be found here.
If you haven't joined our "Best Practice" forum on Facebook you can find it here.
